I read this book several months ago and thought it might be an option for getting my nephew more involved in reading. Is it a literary masterpiece or on the level as a Harry Potter book? NO, but I do think that it works because of the adventure, mystery and plot a boy might enjoy. My 12 y/o nephew really liked the book, he gave it 4 stars. I give it 3.5 stars.A boy buys a crimson-eyed dragon statue which puts him in the path of men who are trying to retrieve the statue. The character development was good and the adventure and planning of strategy was interesting. There was some slightly more teen, than tween scenes, but my nephew skips those parts that deals with girls. Some of the behavior did not seem in keeping with how the characters were developed. The dialogue between the characters sometimes seemed stilted or unnatural. Even with these minor quibbles, I did find the book entertaining and knew the adventures and mystery would appeal to my nephew.
There were occasional unnecessary elements, almost like fillers, that did not progress or enrich the storyline. Some of the events in the book are also totally unrealistic, especially at the end regarding their travel to find out the details of the mystery.
Overall, this might be a good book to get a reluctant reader interested in opening a book.

The CrimsonEyed Dragon eBook DM Trink Reviews
I read about three pages and then deleted it it. I'm all for people going the indie route in publishing. I won't , however, read a book that is not ready for publication. In those few pages I read...
Point of view errors
Editing mistakes, such as referring to the characters by the first name at first and then the full name later
Formatting errors
This is a good first draft. Hope the writer tackles making it great some time.
When I ordered the book, I didn't realized it was geared toward young adults, but it became obvious when I started reading it. Regardless of that, I enjoyed the book and the mystery of the crimson-eyed dragon. The author kept me wanting to turn the pages to see how the mystery played out.
This is a great teenage fiction about a group of teenagers setting out to solve a mystery. I enjoyed all the characters and the story, but not the writing. It felt like a first novel and could have benefited from the skills of an editor.
I loved this story. It was intriguing and suspenseful. I like that there are more books to follow. The book was easy to follow and held my interest.
15 year old Jared and his friends find clues that lead them on an adventure. If you have a middle school/junior high aged child that enjoys adventure stories this book will be a win! I paid .99 for it and found it worth its wages. I am passing it on to my 11 and 13 year old sons now. I am certain they will love it.
mechanics it is a good middle school book- it leads you a step at a time. It explains a lot of stuff as it goes along. Some folks might find this a real turn off, but for the 5th-7th grade reader just entering the world of novels for fun it is a big help.
When I started reading The Crimson Eyed Dragon, I frankly wasn't sure what to expect. However, from almost the beginning the story pulled me in and I could easily picture the capers of these teenagers. I feel that it is so well-written, that readers of almost any age will enjoy this story. The author did a great job of 'tying up' all lose ends and made the reader feel good with all the various twists and turns.
As a side note, this is the second book that I've read by this author -- Wrapped in a Rainbow being the first. Since The Crimson Eyed Dragon is VASTLY different from her other book I was concerned at first. However, they were both excellent stories. This proved to me that this author is capable of writing not just in one genre, but in multiple styles. I look forward to more from this author in the future.
I hadn't realised when I started reading this that it was really aimed, in my opinion, at a younger readership than me! Once I made the mental adjustment, I really enjoyed it. It's a nice little mystery adventure, with a little love story and some sweet teen romance thrown in.
I liked it because these kids were decent and looked after each other. There was no bad language, though the dialogue was a times a little clunky, it was a very readable story and I wanted to see how it ended.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this to my 12 year old niece, she would really enjoy it. There is enough detail about teenage shopping and eating habits to keep her interested!
